SOS implements the evidence-based housing first model.

Studies show that both individuals and families are more likely to succeed at addressing barriers to stability and rebuilding their lives once in stable housing. When their basic needs are met, they are better able to retain jobs, avoid illness, injury, and conflict with the law. SOS’s housing programs provide long-term housing and short- to medium-term rental assistance to displaced households along with prevention services for those at-risk of becoming homeless.
